Asencio Fed Up with Abuse as Rival Fans Continue Stadium Taunts

Real Madrid defender Raúl Asencio has reached his breaking point with persistent fan abuse, responding to chants at Mendizorroza during the Alavés match.

Real Madrid defender Raúl Asencio has had enough of the targeted abuse that follows him to virtually every away ground in La Liga, with Alavés supporters the latest to single him out during Madrid’s visit to Mendizorroza.

The Vitoria Incident

During Madrid’s latest away trip, Alavés fans directed hostile chants at Asencio, essentially telling him he’s unwanted rubbish and should leave Vitoria. Rather than ignore it, the defender’s frustration boiled over as he appeared to sarcastically join in with the chants himself.

Teammate Aurélien Tchouaméni tried to calm the situation, stepping in to settle his colleague as tensions rose. The moment was captured and later shared by television program ‘El Día Después’ on social media.

Asencio’s response? A straightforward post-match comment on social media: “Great match. +3” - focusing on the three points rather than the abuse.

A Recurring Problem

This isn’t a one-off. The Madrid academy graduate faces similar treatment at nearly every away ground in Spain, with opposition supporters seemingly making him a primary target whenever Los Blancos come to town.

The player’s growing frustration with this treatment was further evident in his social media activity. When broadcaster Movistar Football posted a video highlighting various incidents of fan abuse in La Liga matches with the message “We cannot normalize insults in a football stadium”, Asencio’s response was clear and simple: “I agree”.

The Root Cause

The fixation on Asencio stems from a legal situation involving allegations about sharing content of a sexual nature. While both alleged victims have withdrawn their accusations against the footballer, the case remains in the hands of prosecutors who must decide whether to exonerate him completely or continue with proceedings.

Until there’s final resolution, it seems the Madrid defender will continue facing this barrage of abuse that follows him around Spanish football grounds - and his patience is clearly wearing thin.

For a young player trying to establish himself at one of the world’s biggest clubs, it’s an additional pressure that’s becoming increasingly difficult to brush off. The beautiful game can be proper naughty sometimes, and Asencio is finding that out the hard way.
