Real Madrid’s French superstar continues his relentless pursuit of scoring records while eyeing consecutive top scorer awards in Spain.

Kylian Mbappé was at it again this weekend, slotting home from the penalty spot in Madrid’s 2-0 victory over Sevilla. The Frenchman seems to have developed quite the appetite for Spanish defences, notching his 18th league goal in just 18 matches this season.

It’s becoming increasingly clear that when Mbappé scores, Madrid win. When he doesn’t, points go missing faster than my mate’s wallet on a night out in Soho.

The French ace is in rarified air with his scoring rate. The last player to reach 18 goals by matchday 18 was some bloke called Cristiano Ronaldo back in 2013-14, who had 20 at this stage. The all-time record for this point in the season belongs to Lionel Messi, who had a frankly ridiculous 27 goals after 18 matchdays in 2012-13.

Mbappé’s 2025 has been nothing short of sensational in the goal department. Across the calendar year, he’s bagged 39 goals in 36 La Liga appearances – averaging more than a goal per game and making a strong case that he’s worth every penny of that massive contract.
