Terrats to Getafe: Pipe Dream or January Reality?

Ramon Terrats was a summer target for Getafe, and with limited minutes at Espanyol, could a January loan move be on the cards?

Terrats to Getafe: Pipe Dream or January Reality?

The former Villarreal midfielder who chose his boyhood club over Getafe last summer might be regretting his decision as playing time proves scarce at Espanyol.

Summer Target Resurfaces

Ramon Terrats was high on Getafe’s shopping list during the last transfer window. While the Azulones successfully secured Neyou and Javi Muñoz after their contracts expired at Leganés and Las Palmas respectively, they couldn’t convince Terrats to join their ranks. The midfielder opted instead for what he considered his dream move to Espanyol.

But dreams and reality often collide in football. At Espanyol, Terrats has found himself largely warming the bench, managing just 230 minutes across ten La Liga appearances, with only three starts to his name. These limited opportunities could potentially open the door for a January loan move, with Getafe reportedly first in line should he become available.

Priorities and Possibilities

Despite potential interest in Terrats, Getafe’s January transfer priorities lie elsewhere:

  • Central defender: Top of Bordalás’ wish list
  • Striker: A crucial addition for the second half of the season
  • Potential departures: Players with limited minutes could leave if suitable replacements are found

While Getafe’s midfield is currently well-stocked, Terrats’ profile could still be a decent fit – particularly considering his impressive form last season when he banged in four goals and became a crucial player under Bordalás’ system.

The January Waiting Game

The transfer window promises to be a busy period at the Coliseum offices. Bordalás clearly has his priorities, but an opportunity to bring in a player of Terrats’ quality on a loan deal might prove too tempting to resist if the price is right.

For Terrats himself, the chance to reunite with a manager who got the best out of him could be just what the doctor ordered after a frustrating first half of the season at his “dream club”.
