Barça smash goal records in stunning 2025 campaign

Flick's free-scoring Catalans notch 169 goals across all competitions, with Lewandowski and company creating the most prolific Barcelona side since 2016.

Barcelona finish the year with eye-watering attacking numbers as Hansi Flick’s goal-hungry side tear through Spanish football with relentless efficiency.

Goal machine

If there’s one thing that defines Flick’s Barcelona, it’s their insatiable appetite for goals. The German gaffer has his lads playing with the handbrake off regardless of the scoreline, and the numbers are absolutely mental:

  • 169 goals scored across all competitions in 2025
  • 60 matches played throughout the year
  • 102 goals in La Liga alone from 37 matches (2.75 goals per game)

From August to December, the Catalans have bagged 67 goals across competitions:

  • 51 in La Liga
  • 14 in Champions League
  • 2 in Copa del Rey

The blaugrana have been particularly devastating in some matches, putting six past Valencia and Olympiacos, five against Betis, and four against both Athletic Club and Celta Vigo. In more than half their matches (13 of 25), they’ve scored three or more goals.

The first half of 2025 was equally impressive with seven goals against Valencia and five-goal hauls against Real Madrid, Betis, and Benfica among others.

Historical context

These 169 goals represent Barcelona’s best goalscoring year since 2016, when Luis Enrique’s side netted 174 times at a rate of 2.94 goals per match. Back then, it was the famous MSN trident of Messi, Suárez and Neymar doing most of the damage.

This year, the goalscoring burden has been shared among Lewandowski, Ferran Torres, Raphinha, Lamine Yamal and Fermín. Talk about strength in depth, proper team effort that.

Woodwork woes

Incredibly, these numbers could have been even more bonkers if not for some bad luck. Barça have hit the woodwork a staggering 36 times in 2025, with Raphinha the latest victim when he struck the crossbar at La Cerámica last Sunday.

Of those 36 woodwork hits:

  • 17 have come this season
  • 15 in La Liga
  • 2 in Champions League

You’d have to go back to 2018 to find a year when they were more unfortunate, hitting the post or crossbar 40 times. Imagine if half of those had gone in - we’d be looking at numbers that would make even Pep’s Barcelona seem shy in front of goal.
