Chimy Ávila eyeing Getafe move as Bordalás seeks attacking reinforcement

The Argentine forward is reportedly keen on a January loan switch to Getafe after limited minutes at Real Betis this season, with the player admiring Bordalás's style.

Getafe could be set to land a proper bit of January business with Ezequiel ‘Chimy’ Ávila keen on a potential loan move from Real Betis.

Bordalás hunting for firepower

The south Madrid outfit are already grafting away on their winter transfer plans, with manager José Bordalás making no bones about needing reinforcements for the second half of the campaign. Club president Ángel Torres has previously mentioned they’re after both a striker and a centre-back to bolster their options.

Chimy Ávila has emerged as one of the attacking targets on Getafe’s radar, and it’s not the first time his name has been linked with the Coliseum. The Argentine forward previously impressed in La Liga with both Huesca and Osasuna, making him a known quantity who could slot straight into Bordalás’s system without the usual bedding-in period.

Player keen on the switch

Sources close to the situation reveal that Ávila views Getafe as an attractive destination and wouldn’t throw a spanner in the works if the two clubs can hammer out a loan agreement. The 30-year-old has found minutes hard to come by at Betis this season, largely due to:

  • The summer arrival of Antony from Manchester United
  • Isco’s return to form and fitness
  • Abde’s impressive performances this campaign

Despite his limited playing time, Ávila hasn’t been sitting on his jacksy during the festive period. He’s been putting in the hard yards training independently to maintain peak fitness ahead of the post-Christmas return to action – whether that’s with Betis or potentially Getafe.

Bordalás connection a key factor

Interestingly, Ávila has apparently been doing his homework, chatting with current Getafe players like Cucho Hernández and Sergi Altimira about life at the club. What’s more, the forward is particularly drawn to the prospect of working under Bordalás, a gaffer he believes could help him showcase his full potential.

The potential addition of Chimy’s bulldozer-like playing style would certainly fit the Getafe manager’s tactical approach like a glove, potentially giving the Azulones the attacking spark they’ve been seeking.
