Galán finds his happy place at Osasuna: 'I'm where I want to be'

Former Atlético Madrid left-back Javi Galán joins Osasuna with renewed enthusiasm, ready to make an immediate impact against Athletic Club this weekend.

New Osasuna signing Javi Galán has declared himself fully committed to his new club, expressing his delight at joining the Navarre outfit after a frustrating spell at Atlético Madrid.

”100% convinced” by the move

The left-back, who completed his first training session at Tajonar on Monday before being officially unveiled at El Sadar on Wednesday, couldn’t hide his enthusiasm about the transfer.

“I’m where I want to be,” Galán stated emphatically, showing he’s proper chuffed with his decision to join Los Rojillos. The defender explained that Osasuna’s identity and playing style align perfectly with his profile as a player.

“I’ve suffered a lot when I’ve come here as a visitor - the fans, the stadium… everything about the club appeals to me,” he admitted, revealing that conversations with sporting director Braulio Vázquez and positive words from former teammate Alejandro Alfaro were decisive factors in his move.

Ready for immediate impact

Despite limited minutes at Atlético Madrid, Galán insists he’s in peak physical condition and ready to contribute immediately, potentially making his debut this Saturday against Athletic Club.

“Physically I’m at 100%,” he declared, putting himself at the manager’s disposal right from the off.

The versatile defender highlighted his tactical flexibility as a key asset:

  • Can play in both four and five-man defensive systems
  • Extensive experience adapting between formations
  • Ready to compete for his position

Positive first impressions

Galán has been impressed by the club’s strong identity and the warm welcome he’s received from his new teammates. He confirmed having spoken with the manager before finalizing his transfer – a conversation that left him with “very good feelings.”

The new Osasuna man is taking a present-focused approach to his career move: “I always like to live in the present. I want to contribute as much as possible during this time, and then we’ll sit down with the club and see where we go.”

With his combination of experience, versatility and renewed motivation, Galán looks set to become a valuable addition to the Osasuna squad as they continue their campaign.
