Levante enter race for Uruguayan striker Martín Satriano

The Granota side are eyeing Lyon's on-loan Uruguayan forward as Luis Castro looks to bolster attacking options with Eyong at AFCON and Koyalipou injured.

Levante are making moves in the January transfer market with Uruguayan striker Martín Satriano emerging as a prime target for the Valencia-based club.

In-demand forward

The Granota have joined the chase for the 24-year-old, who’s currently on loan at Olympique Lyon from RC Lens until the end of the season. Satriano, who also holds an Italian passport, is attracting interest from several Spanish clubs, with Girona and Elche also reportedly keeping tabs on the forward according to transfer specialist Matteo Moretto.

The Uruguayan has been putting in decent shifts in France this season, making 17 appearances across Ligue 1, domestic cup competitions, and the Europa League. He’s bagged three goals and has established himself as something of a key figure in the Lyon squad.

Castro seeking reinforcements

Levante’s interest makes perfect sense given their current attacking predicament. New gaffer Luis Castro, who recently took the reins at the Ciutat de Valencia, is facing a bit of a headache up front with:

  • Etta Eyong unavailable due to his Africa Cup of Nations commitments with Cameroon
  • Koyalipou struggling with injury problems that have severely limited his minutes in December

Satriano would offer Castro a different dimension in attack as Levante look to strengthen their offensive options for the business end of the season.

It remains to be seen whether they can win the race for his signature, especially with competition from La Liga outfit Girona who could tempt the striker with top-flight football. The coming days should reveal more about this potential winter move.
