Peque returns to training as Sevilla wrap up 2025 with foggy session
Sevilla completed their final training session of 2025 with Peque back in the fold after illness, while Vargas and Suazo remain sidelined ahead of Sunday's clash with Levante.
Sevilla’s final training session of 2025 saw the welcome return of Peque to the squad following his recovery from a fever, providing a timely boost ahead of this weekend’s La Liga restart.
Foggy conditions at Ciudad Deportiva
The lads braved proper pea-souper conditions this morning as Sevilla’s training ground was enveloped in fog, with temperatures dropping to properly chilly levels. Despite the weather playing silly beggars, Almeyda’s men pushed on with preparations for Sunday’s 14:00 kickoff against Levante at the Sánchez-Pizjuán.
Peque’s return to the fold after shaking off his fever is a proper shot in the arm for the squad, though not all the injury news is as positive:
- Vargas continues his recovery from the muscle problem picked up against Espanyol
- Suazo remains sidelined with his soleus injury
- Both players trained separately from the main group
New Year’s Day return to work
The squad won’t be enjoying too much New Year’s bubbly, as they’re scheduled to be back at it on Thursday, January 1st. Training kicks off at 18:00 as Sevilla begin their 2026 preparations in earnest.
African absentees
Almeyda continues to plan without Nigerian duo Akor Adams and Chidera Ejuke, who are both still on international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations. With Nigeria progressing to the round of 16, the gaffer faces an anxious wait to discover when his attacking options will return to Andalusia.
The Sevilla boss will need to get creative with his forward line for the Levante clash, but Peque’s availability at least gives him another option in the final third as Los Nervionenses look to start 2026 on the front foot.
