Sporting Lisbon swoop for Granada's Senegalese sensation Faye

Portuguese giants table offer for Granada's exciting winger as winter transfer window opens, with several Spanish clubs also circling the 22-year-old talent.

Granada face a battle to keep hold of their exciting young winger Faye, with Sporting Lisbon making the first concrete move to secure the Senegalese talent as the January transfer window opens.

Portuguese giants make their move

Sporting Lisbon, currently sitting second in the Portuguese top flight, have wasted no time in the winter window by tabling an official bid for the 22-year-old Granada star. The Portuguese outfit are keen to steal a march on other interested parties, including several Spanish clubs who’ve been monitoring the tricky wide man.

Granada made quite the investment in Faye last summer, splashing around half a million euros to bring him to Los Cármenes. However, the potential deal with Sporting would see the Andalusian side pocket a tidy profit just months after signing him – not too shabby business if they decide to cash in.

Rising star in Andalusia

Since arriving at Granada, Faye has been absolutely mustard for Pacheta’s side:

  • 2 goals and 6 assists this season
  • Established himself as a key attacking threat
  • Showcased his ability to unbalance defences with the ball at his feet
  • Demonstrated significant development potential at just 22

His performances have put him on the radar of several major European clubs, with Sporting now making the first concrete move to bring him to Lisbon this January.

Pacheta’s warning

Granada manager Pacheta has previously warned about the importance of keeping the club’s young talents as they navigate the second half of the season. Losing a player of Faye’s quality mid-season would certainly be a blow to the team’s ambitions.

The Adam and Eve will be whether Granada value the immediate financial gain over keeping their talented winger for their campaign. With multiple clubs circling, this could turn into one of the more interesting Spanish transfer sagas of the January window.
