Fer López eyeing Celta return as homesick star pushes for Vigo homecoming

The Spanish youngster is desperate to escape his Wolves nightmare and return to Celta Vigo, with all parties keen but no deal advanced yet.

Fer López is pushing hard for a return to Celta Vigo just months after his big-money Premier League move, but the Galician club admits a deal remains complicated despite mutual interest from all parties.

Homeward bound?

Celta have been upfront about their dream scenario - bringing their academy graduate back on loan this January. While they’re not hiding their interest, club sources insist nothing is advanced yet despite ongoing discussions.

The stars might be aligning for this potential reunion:

  • Celta manager Claudio Giráldez is keen to welcome López back
  • The 21-year-old attacker desperately wants to return to Vigo
  • Wolves, currently bottom of the Premier League, might consider a temporary exit

Any potential loan deal would likely be structured for either six or eighteen months, giving López the chance to rediscover his form back on familiar turf.

Premier League struggles

López’s time in England has been proper pants so far. Since his £23 million (€27m) move last June, the Spanish youngster has barely had a look-in at Molineux:

  • Just 10 appearances across all competitions
  • A measly 346 minutes of playing time
  • Only one assist to show for his efforts

Why Wolves might play ball

Despite splashing the cash on López last summer, Wolves find themselves in a right two and eight at the bottom of the Premier League table. Their primary concern now is protecting their investment.

The West Midlands club doesn’t want their Spanish asset’s value to plummet through lack of playing time, making a temporary return to Vigo potentially beneficial for all parties. A chance for López to rebuild confidence in familiar surroundings might be just what the doctor ordered.
