Three Kings Day visit brings festive cheer to struggling Leganés
Leganés welcomed fans and special royal visitors to training as they prepare for a crucial relegation battle against Albacete while eyeing attacking reinforcements.
Leganés kicked off 2026 with a touch of magic as they welcomed fans and some very special guests to Butarque for an open training session.
Royal visitors bring gifts to Butarque
Igor Oca’s squad returned to work with a festive atmosphere as the Three Kings (Los Reyes Magos) made a special appearance at Ontime Butarque, distributing gifts to supporters who attended the open training session. The traditional Spanish celebration brought some much-needed cheer to a club currently fighting for survival in LaLiga Hypermotion.
The best gift for the Pepineros, however, would be securing their first win of 2026 when they face Albacete this Sunday evening (18:30). The team is desperate to translate improved performances under their new manager into actual points as they battle to escape the relegation zone.
Transfer hopes pinned on attacking reinforcements
Leganés’ struggles this season have been largely down to their toothless attack - they currently rank as the second-lowest scoring team in LaLiga Hypermotion. A proper lack of bottle in front of goal, as they say down the Dog and Duck.
The club is working to address this glaring weakness in the January transfer window, with two potential signings already on the horizon:
- Álex Forés is being targeted to bolster attacking options
- Lucas Pérez, the experienced forward, is also on Leganés’ radar
Both players would add much-needed firepower to a side that has found goals harder to come by than a taxi on New Year’s Eve.
With the relegation battle heating up, Leganés will be hoping these potential reinforcements arrive quickly to help turn their season around before it’s too late.
