Valencia condemn team bus window smash after airport arrival
Angry fans confronted Valencia players at Manises Airport following a 4-1 defeat to Celta, with objects thrown at the team bus causing damage.
Valencia CF have publicly condemned an incident where their team bus was damaged by angry supporters following the squad’s return from their heavy defeat to Celta Vigo.
In what’s becoming a proper nightmare season for Los Che, tensions boiled over when approximately 200 fans gathered at Manises Airport to greet the team after their 4-1 hammering away at Celta.
Airport Confrontation
The Valencia contingent touched down around 7:30pm and were met by a hostile reception despite National Police presence attempting to secure their exit. Officers cordoned off areas and tried to maintain order, but couldn’t prevent objects being hurled at the official team coach.
One of the bus windows was completely shattered in the incident, with the club sharing an image of the damage on their social media accounts. The photo was taken after the bus had safely delivered players to the Paterna training ground, where they transferred to their personal vehicles.
Club Statement
Valencia released a statement via their official X (formerly Twitter) account addressing the situation. The club expressed “understanding” regarding supporter frustration over recent results, but firmly condemned the violent behavior.
The statement emphasized that the situation could have escalated dangerously, noting that “this type of violent act could have caused personal injury to players or coaching staff members.”
The club reinforced their position by stating they “firmly condemn any form of violence” while not providing additional details about potential further measures following the incident.
Growing Pressure
This incident highlights the growing discontent among the Valencia faithful, who’ve had their patience tested by poor performances. The 4-1 defeat to Celta was clearly the last straw for some supporters, whose frustrations have now spilled over into concerning territory.
While fan disappointment is understandable, this crossed a line that puts both club personnel and the reputation of Valencia’s support at risk. As one famous manager once said, “football without fans is nothing,” but this isn’t the way to make your voice heard.
