Pulido’s Predicament
The transfer saga involving Jorge Pulido has taken another twist at Huesca, with sporting director Ángel Martín González stepping in to defend the club captain after some rather dodgy comments about his potential move to Almería.
Pulido had previously confirmed his agreement with Almería and suggested his head wouldn’t be at Huesca if the transfer collapsed - comments that raised more than a few eyebrows among the Aragonese club’s faithful.
But Martín González isn’t having any of it, backing his skipper during new signing Efe Aghama’s unveiling:
“My wish is that he stays, and if he does, he’ll be the same as always,” the director insisted, showing remarkable restraint given the circumstances. “He’s part of our badge and more than just a player and captain.”
Transfer Talk
The January window is well and truly open, and Huesca seem to be having a right old sort through their squad. Martín González revealed:
- Three or four offers currently on the table for outgoing players
- Plans for two or three new signings
- Possibility of a centre-back arrival depending on market conditions
- No player will leave without a destination club
The sporting director also took time to defend manager Bolo despite recent poor results, claiming “he’s getting performances that until now couldn’t be extracted” - which might sound like damning with faint praise to some ears.
New Blood
Huesca’s first winter signing Efe Aghama was present at the presser and didn’t half sound up for it. The new winger dismissed suggestions he’s merely looking for minutes and projection at the struggling side.
“What I’m seeking is continuity to keep growing at a club,” Aghama explained. “I can’t wait to start playing with my new teammates.”
The most striking thing was his ambition - with Huesca just one point above the relegation zone, you’d expect talk of survival. Instead, Aghama’s having none of that, boldly claiming: “We can achieve safety and even look towards the playoffs.”
That’s the spirit, son! The new boy could make his debut as early as Monday against Córdoba at El Alcoraz. Talk about being thrown in at the deep end.
