Luis García braces for tough Depor test: 'They have game-changers'

Las Palmas boss Luis García Plaza previews the clash with Deportivo La Coruña, highlighting the visitor's quality while hoping for a packed Gran Canaria Stadium.

Las Palmas manager Luis García is expecting a proper battle when his side faces Deportivo La Coruña in what’s shaping up to be the match of the weekend in LaLiga Hypermotion, with both promotion hopefuls set to create an electric atmosphere at the Gran Canaria Stadium.

Stadium atmosphere excites García

The yellow submarine gaffer couldn’t hide his enthusiasm about the expected turnout for Saturday’s clash, with the stands likely to be at their fullest this season:

“For me, the greatest joy is seeing the stadium practically full tomorrow. That’s been my primary goal since arriving – getting people to come to the ground because they enjoy what they’re watching,” García explained.

It’s proper box office stuff this one, with two sides that have the feel of top-flight clubs going head-to-head in Spain’s second division. The fans clearly agree, responding in numbers that have delighted the Las Palmas manager.

Yeremay threat looms large

García was quick to acknowledge the danger posed by Deportivo’s star man Yeremay, a Gran Canaria native who’ll be facing his hometown club for the first time:

“He’s the most valuable player in the current Segunda División,” García admitted, though he insisted his team won’t be changing their approach just for one player.

But it’s not just about Yeremay – García sees quality throughout the visitor’s squad:

“Mella, Soriano, or any of their forwards are part of a tremendous squad with the objective of securing promotion,” he noted, showing he’s done his homework on Saturday’s opponents.

New signings ready to make impact

On the Las Palmas front, recent arrival Estanis has already made his mark, scoring an important goal on his debut last weekend. Another new face could be Colombian attacker Benedetti, with García revealing: “I hope that throughout the day Benedetti will be in a position to be registered.”

With both sides harboring serious promotion ambitions, this clash could be a right Bobby Dazzler as they look to climb the table and make their case for a return to the Spanish top flight.
