Racing Santander snap up Georgian forward Guliashvili in winter window
Racing Santander have secured the signing of Georgian international Giorgi Guliashvili until 2029, addressing their attacking needs after Jeremy's exit and Villalibre's injury.
Racing Santander have moved swiftly to bolster their attacking options with the capture of Georgian forward Giorgi Guliashvili on a long-term deal running until June 2029.
Why the urgent need for a striker?
The Cantabrian outfit found themselves short up top this winter window, facing a bit of a mare in attack with:
- Jeremy’s departure leaving a hole in their forward line
- Asier Villalibre sidelined through injury
With the squad looking thinner than my barnet these days, Racing knew they needed to act decisively in the transfer market.
Who is Guliashvili?
The 24-year-old Georgian international arrives with a decent pedigree, having spent the last three seasons plying his trade with FK Sarajevo in Bosnia Herzegovina’s Premier League. During his stint there, he lifted the Bosnian Cup in 2025 and racked up some impressive numbers - 23 goals and 15 assists in 70 appearances.
The versatile forward, who can operate across the entire front line, has also turned out for Velez Mostar in Bosnia, as well as Georgian clubs Saburtalo and Iberia 1999 from Tbilisi.
On the international stage, Guliashvili has earned 6 caps for Georgia’s senior team after working his way through the youth ranks, where he accumulated a whopping 61 appearances from U16 to U21 level.
Racing’s attacking options
With this latest addition, Racing’s forward department now looks a bit more sorted for the remainder of the campaign, with:
- Asier Villalibre (once fit)
- Arana
- New boy Guliashvili
This marks Racing’s second winter window reinforcement following the earlier arrival of Damián Rodríguez from Celta Vigo.
The Cantabrians will be hoping their new Georgian striker can hit the ground running and bang in the goals to keep them competitive in the Segunda División.
