Racing's winter spree continues with Athletic youngster Manex Lozano
Racing Santander secure their third January signing as 19-year-old striker Manex Lozano arrives on loan from Athletic Club's youth system.
Racing Santander continue their busy January business with Spanish youth international Manex Lozano becoming their third winter window acquisition.
Athletic youngster joins on loan
The Cantabrians have secured the services of the 19-year-old centre-forward on a temporary deal from Athletic Club. Standing at an imposing 6’3” (1.91m), the Navarrese striker arrives with a promising pedigree from Bilbao’s renowned youth system.
Impressive youth record
Lozano’s numbers at youth level suggest Racing have nabbed themselves a proper talent:
- Scored 23 goals in 33 matches for Athletic’s Juvenil side in División de Honor last season
- Featured in 14 games for CD Basconia (Athletic’s B team) in Segunda Federación this term
- Made 6 appearances in the UEFA Youth League with the Juvenil squad
- Current Spain U19 international
Racing’s transfer strategy
The Santander outfit aren’t hanging about in the January window. Lozano represents their third signing as they look to strengthen their squad for the second half of the Segunda División campaign.
With his towering frame and eye for goal, Lozano could be just what the doctor ordered for Racing’s attacking options. The loan deal gives the youngster his first proper taste of senior football while offering Racing a hungry prospect eager to make his mark in professional football.
If his youth scoring rate is anything to go by, Racing fans might be in for a right Bobby Dazzler in the coming months.
