Canary Islands transfer swoop: Las Palmas eye Japanese striker and Spanish winger
Las Palmas making moves in the transfer market with immediate interest in Vissel Kobe's Miyashiro, while planning summer swoop for Granada's Álex Sola.
Las Palmas are ramping up their transfer activity with a two-pronged approach targeting immediate firepower and future reinforcements for the squad.
Japanese forward close to joining
The Canary Islanders are in advanced negotiations to bring Japanese forward Miyashiro to Gran Canaria, with the striker’s contract at Vissel Kobe set to expire on January 31st. The club sees him as the perfect fit for their offensive system, bringing mobility, dribbling ability and much-needed goals for the business end of the season.
Miyashiro has been in proper form lately, bagging 11 goals this season – matching his tally from last term. These numbers haven’t gone unnoticed, earning him a debut with the Japanese national team. While his current club tried to keep hold of him, the player’s desire for European football appears to have won out.
Though some Japanese outlets are treating it as a done deal, the transfer isn’t quite over the line yet – but negotiations are heading in the right direction.
Summer planning already underway
While sorting their January business, sporting director Luis Helguera is simultaneously plotting for next season. Álex Sola has emerged as a primary target, with the winger currently plying his trade at Granada.
Any move for Sola will have to wait until summer, however. Having already represented both Getafe and Granada this season, regulations prevent him from turning out for a third club in the same campaign. His contract expires on June 30th, making him an attractive free transfer option.
Competition for signature
Las Palmas won’t have a clear run at Sola, with Almería also showing interest in the Spanish winger. This could turn into a proper battle for his signature in what promises to be a drawn-out negotiation process.
The club’s strategy of balancing immediate needs with medium-term planning shows they’re not just thinking about staying afloat – they’re building for the future. Casting their net across different markets could be crucial for assembling a deeper, more competitive squad beyond the current campaign.
It’s early days, but these potential signings suggest Las Palmas aren’t planning to be mugs in the transfer market. Time will tell if they can get these deals over the line.
