Granada making moves: Lemos and Petit close to Los Cármenes switch
Granada CF look to bolster their squad with two key signings as they address their defensive and goalscoring issues in the January transfer window.
Granada are finally getting their winter transfer window in gear with two potential signings that could address some glaring issues in Pacheta’s squad as they push for promotion in the second half of the season.
Defensive reinforcement
Álvaro Lemos appears set to become Granada’s first winter signing after ending his stint at Oviedo, where the poor bloke has been plagued by injuries. The Galician right-back is expected to arrive on a free transfer, bolstering Granada’s defensive options.
At 32, Lemos is looking to get his career back on track after completing a lengthy recovery from a serious knee injury. The Coruña-born defender hasn’t featured since December 2024 when he played for Oviedo against Córdoba, but is now fully recovered and ready for a fresh challenge in Andalusia.
Attacking solution
The second player close to joining Los Cármenes is Gonzalo Petit. The Uruguayan striker has been identified as the solution to what’s been Granada’s most pressing concern this season - their woeful lack of goals.
According to ABC, Real Betis are set to terminate Petit’s loan at Mirandés, where they’re apparently not chuffed with his playing time, and redirect him to Granada until the end of the season. The South American forward has managed four goals in 774 minutes during the first half of the campaign - not exactly setting the world alight, but Granada are desperate for someone who knows where the onion bag is.
More business expected
While these two deals are being finalised, Granada’s transfer activity doesn’t stop there. The club is:
- Still searching for a goalkeeper to strengthen between the sticks
- Looking to add a central midfielder to address squad deficiencies
- Working to finalise the departures of Hongla and Faye in the coming hours
Pacheta will be hoping these reinforcements can give his side the boost they need as they enter the business end of the Segunda División campaign.
