Las Palmas president drops striker transfer bombshell: 'Not long now'

Miguel Ángel Ramírez reveals Las Palmas are close to securing their target forward, while Marc Cardona looks set for the exit door in January transfer shake-up.

Las Palmas president Miguel Ángel Ramírez has confirmed the club is on the verge of landing their priority striker target in the January window, while several players could be heading for the exit door.

Transfer teaser drops on Radio MARCA

Speaking to Radio MARCA Gran Canaria, Ramírez played his cards close to his chest regarding specific names but couldn’t help dropping a massive hint about an imminent attacking arrival.

“We’re working to make room for that footballer. It won’t be long before the striker we want arrives,” Ramírez revealed, sending Yellow Submarine supporters into a frenzy of speculation.

The Las Palmas president made it clear the club has been doing their homework on potential reinforcements:

  • Scouting network active across domestic and international markets
  • Monitoring how rival clubs are strengthening
  • Working to create squad space before finalizing deals

Cardona heading for the door

One player who looks certain to be on his bike is forward Marc Cardona. The Catalan striker, whose contract expires at the end of the season, has found playing time harder to come by than gold dust in Shoreditch.

Ramírez confirmed: “Marc, seeing the few minutes he’s getting, would like to leave. For players to come in, others need to go out.”

This straightforward approach suggests Las Palmas are taking a pragmatic view of their January business – it’s a proper case of one in, one out at the Estadio Gran Canaria.

Non-EU player logjam complicating matters

Another wrinkle in Las Palmas’ transfer plans is their current non-EU player situation. The club is reportedly in talks with Japanese prospect Miyashiro, but any deal hinges on freeing up one of their limited non-EU registration spots.

Cedeño appears the most likely candidate to make way, with the player struggling for minutes under manager Luis García. A loan move seems the most probable solution to give him playing time elsewhere while creating the necessary space.

When pressed on these specific rumours, Ramírez went all tight-lipped, stating: “We can’t be discussing what’s reported in the press every day.”

With the January window heating up, Las Palmas fans won’t have long to wait to see who their mystery striker target might be.
