Valladolid snag Uruguayan winger Sanseviero as Arnu heads to Madrid Castilla
Real Valladolid continue their winter business with free agent Lucas Sanseviero joining from Danubio, while working on a loan deal to send Arnu to Real Madrid's B team.
Valladolid are having a right proper January clear-out and restock as they look to bolster their attacking options with Uruguayan winger Lucas Sanseviero becoming their third winter signing.
Uruguayan talent joins on a free
The 25-year-old right winger arrives at the Blanquivioletas as a free agent after his contract with Uruguayan top-flight side Danubio expired. The Spanish club have moved swiftly to secure a player who brings some decent numbers with him across the pond.
Sanseviero’s 2025 stats make for promising reading:
- 36 appearances across Uruguay’s Apertura, Intermedio and Clausura tournaments
- 5 goals and 10 assists in domestic competition
- Additional experience in the Copa Sudamericana
Attacking reinforcements needed
Valladolid’s transfer strategy is crystal clear - they’re desperate to beef up their attacking options after struggling in front of goal this season. The long-term injury to Amath, one of their top marksmen, has only compounded their scoring woes.
The club has already welcomed Norwegian striker Erlien and Sevilla centre-back Ramón Martínez in previous January moves, showing real intent to climb the table.
Squad management puzzle
Here’s where things get a bit complicated. Valladolid have filled their first-team squad allocation, meaning they need to shift some bodies before officially registering their new arrivals.
One solution appears to be in the works with youngster Arnu. The club is negotiating a loan move that would see him join Real Madrid Castilla (Madrid’s B team) for the remainder of the campaign, with Los Blancos potentially securing a purchase option as part of the deal.
If the Arnu deal crosses the finish line, it would free up the necessary registration spot for Sanseviero to complete his move to the José Zorrilla.
