Almería bolster attack with Miguel De la Fuente loan swoop
The Segunda División leaders have secured Leganés forward Miguel De la Fuente on loan until the end of the season with a non-obligatory purchase option.
Almería have swooped under the radar to secure a much-needed attacking reinforcement as they push for promotion to La Liga.
Silent operation
While Almería’s pursuits of Jon Morcillo and Jorge Pulido have been playing out in public view, the club pulled a right flanker with the De la Fuente deal. The transfer developed without leaks until the official announcement dropped today, catching many by surprise.
The 26-year-old Leganés striker joins on loan until the season’s end with a purchase option that - crucially - isn’t mandatory, giving Almería flexibility for their summer planning.
Available immediately
The Valladolid-born forward will waste no time getting stuck in:
- Set to train with Rubi’s squad from Thursday
- Available for Saturday’s home clash against Deportivo
- Brings Segunda División experience to the promotion push
Filling a gap
The signing addresses a clear need in Almería’s squad. The promotion chasers have been relying heavily on Thalys and Soko up front, with a third striking option conspicuously absent from their arsenal.
The club’s brass were specifically hunting for someone who could:
- Deliver immediate impact rather than requiring adaptation time
- Provide experienced competition in the forward line
- Contribute goals to their promotion charge
Point to prove
De la Fuente arrives with something to prove after finding himself on the periphery at struggling Leganés. The forward has managed just two goals this season for the relegation-threatened ‘Pepineros’.
However, Almería clearly believe he can rediscover his scoring touch in new surroundings as they continue their charge toward Spain’s top flight.
