Iker Bravo ready to 'enjoy football again' after sealing Las Palmas move

Former Bayer Leverkusen wonderkid Iker Bravo joins Las Palmas with renewed enthusiasm, eager to learn from Jesé and revive his promising career in Spain's Segunda División.

Young striker Iker Bravo has finally found his new home at UD Las Palmas, expressing his desire to rediscover the joy of playing football after a difficult spell in his early career.

The talented Spanish forward was unveiled on Thursday following his first training session with his new teammates, bringing a refreshing dose of humility to his presentation.

”Not just an area striker”

When asked about his playing style, Bravo described himself as a versatile attacking option rather than a traditional number 9:

“I’m a player who adapts to all attacking positions. I feel comfortable across the front. I’m not just an area striker, but I’m not a number 10 either. I’m different. I can even play out wide.”

This versatility should prove valuable for Las Palmas as they navigate the challenging Segunda División campaign.

Competition or opportunity?

Rather than viewing established forwards like Jesé, Lukovic, and Ale García as competition, Bravo sees their presence as a chance to grow:

“I don’t see it as competition; it’s an opportunity to play with fantastic players and enjoy football again, which I’ve needed for a long time,” he admitted.

The young striker appears particularly excited about playing alongside Jesé, the former Real Madrid talent who’s now something of a talisman at Las Palmas:

“He’s a brilliant player and everyone knows his quality. I’ll learn whatever I can from him. I’ll be all ears, watching closely. I’m very happy to play with him and will make the most of this opportunity.”

Career resurrection

For Bravo, this move represents a crucial step in his development after a period where opportunities to showcase his talent were limited:

“This is a very important opportunity in my career. I’ve learned a lot in the last two years but haven’t been able to demonstrate it. I’m lucky Las Palmas has trusted me, and I’ll repay that with hard work and effort.”

The youngster was once regarded as one of Spain’s brightest prospects, but his career has hit a few speed bumps along the way. Now at Las Palmas, he’s determined to get back on track and remind everyone of his potential.

It’s early days, but Bravo seems to have his head screwed on right. If the Canary Islanders can provide him with the platform he needs, they might have found themselves a proper diamond geezer in attack.
