Qatar World Cup star Al-Amin joins Cultural Leonesa on loan

Cultural Leonesa secure the services of Qatar international Homam Al-Amin until 2026, while Pibe heads for the exit door to Kazakhstan's FK Aktobe.

Cultural Leonesa have pulled off a proper January transfer coup by bringing in Qatar international Homam Al-Amin on loan until June 2026.

World Cup pedigree arrives in León

Cultural have moved swiftly to strengthen their left flank with the acquisition of Al-Amin from Qatari club Al-Duhail SC. The 24-year-old defender, born in Doha in 1999, brings a wealth of international experience to the Spanish second division side.

The versatile left-back, who can also operate further forward on the left wing, boasts an impressive CV that would make most Segunda División players green with envy:

  • Qatar senior international debut in 2019
  • Participated in the 2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup
  • Featured in the 2022 World Cup on home soil
  • Asian champion with Qatar in 2023

Al-Amin is no stranger to European football either, having previously plied his trade with Belgian outfit KAS Eupen. Back in Qatar, he’s represented top-flight clubs including Al-Gharafa and Al-Duhail.

The Qatari international had seen limited action this season before his move to Spain, making 12 appearances with just 4 starts for mid-table Al-Duhail.

Squad reshuffle continues

While one door opens, another closes at Cultural. The club is finalizing the departure of Pibe, who is set to join Kazakhstani side FK Aktobe in the coming hours. The deal has reportedly been agreed by all parties involved.

Pibe was part of the squad that secured promotion last season and, while not an automatic starter, had featured regularly in manager Ziganda’s plans.

Cultural’s winter transfer activity is gathering pace, with Al-Amin’s arrival and the departures of Paraschiv, Cortés and now Pibe signaling a significant reshuffle. The club appears determined to fine-tune their squad without compromising competitiveness as they prepare for the business end of the season.

This could be a right Bobby Dazzler of a signing if Al-Amin settles quickly - not many Segunda sides can boast having a World Cup player in their ranks!
