Getafe and Real Oviedo in talks over Juanmi transfer
The Asturian club are looking to bolster their attacking options, with Juanmi Jiménez not featuring in José Bordalás' plans at Getafe despite his recent goal against Real Sociedad.
Getafe forward Juanmi could be on his way to Segunda División side Real Oviedo as negotiations between the clubs progress.
Oviedo seeking attacking reinforcements
Real Oviedo are in the market for attacking reinforcements and have identified Málaga-born Juanmi as their primary target. The Asturian outfit are keen to strengthen their frontline for the remainder of the season as they push for promotion to LaLiga.
Meanwhile, Getafe manager José Bordalás doesn’t seem to have the 30-year-old striker in his plans, similar to the situation with midfielder Neyou. The Madrid club would welcome the departure of both players, particularly as they’re among the highest earners in the squad.
Financial benefits for Getafe
Shedding these high salaries would ease Getafe’s issues with their wage cap, potentially creating room to register new signings. It’s a proper win-win situation if they can get the deal over the line.
Limited impact this season
Despite his limited playing time, Juanmi did manage to score his first league goal of the season against Real Sociedad in Getafe’s most recent match. His stats for the campaign so far:
- 7 appearances in LaLiga
- 3 Copa del Rey matches
- 1 league goal
- 4 goals in a single Copa del Rey match against amateur side Inter Valdemoro
Recent history
Juanmi initially joined Getafe last winter on loan from Real Betis. The Madrid club exercised their purchase option at the end of that loan spell, making him a permanent Getafe player since June 30th.
Now, just half a season later, the former Southampton man looks set for another move if negotiations between the clubs reach a successful conclusion. Bit of a football nomad, this one!
