Ancelotti belts out La Décima anthem during Madrid Champions League return

The Brazil boss and former Real Madrid manager was spotted in the stands at the Bernabéu, singing along to the club's famous tenth Champions League anthem.

Carlo Ancelotti showed he’s still a Madridista at heart, returning to the Bernabéu and getting caught on camera belting out Real Madrid’s famous La Décima anthem before their Champions League clash with Monaco.

Don Carlo’s homecoming

The current Brazil national team manager couldn’t resist a trip back to his old stomping ground, taking in the Champions League fixture from the directors’ box. In a proper heart-warming moment, Movistar cameras caught Ancelotti singing along to the club’s iconic tenth Champions League triumph anthem like any other devoted fan, while his wife filmed his passionate performance.

This wasn’t Don Carlo’s first recent visit either. Just days earlier, he attended Madrid’s match against Levante alongside a Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) delegation. On that particular afternoon, the Italian witnessed the Bernabéu faithful giving their team the hairdryer treatment following their shock Copa del Rey elimination.

Arbeloa’s cheeky dig

The day before the Monaco clash, Ancelotti’s name popped up at Valdebebas training ground when his former player Álvaro Arbeloa, who played under the Italian from 2013 to 2015, had a light-hearted pop at his old gaffer.

“I’m marking him absent. He didn’t come to see or greet me. If he’s here tomorrow, I hope he comes down to see his players – and I’m one of them,” Arbeloa joked, before reflecting on Ancelotti’s immense legacy at the club.

The former defender went on to express his admiration for the most decorated manager in Real Madrid’s history, highlighting Ancelotti’s unparalleled achievements including:

  • The most Champions League titles of any Madrid manager
  • The only coach to win all five major European leagues

Arbeloa concluded by saying he was eager to see his former boss and give him a proper bear hug – proving the special bond between Ancelotti and his Madrid family remains as strong as ever, despite his new Brazil adventure.
