Barça outcast Dro training alone after pushing for exit
Barcelona's 18-year-old prospect Dro has been frozen out of team training after demanding a January transfer, with PSG leading the chase for his signature.
Barcelona’s promising 18-year-old midfielder Dro finds himself training in isolation after demanding an immediate exit from the Catalan giants, with the club making it clear they’re not best pleased with his decision.
The Cold Shoulder
While Marc-André ter Stegen has been handling his potential departure with professionalism - appearing in the official squad photo and training normally despite ongoing negotiations with Girona - young Dro is experiencing a much frostier response from the Blaugrana hierarchy.
Since last Friday, when the talented midfielder informed Hansi Flick and the sporting directors of his “firm desire” to leave Barcelona immediately during the January window, he’s been effectively banished from first-team activities. The lad’s not even been allowed to train with any of the youth teams or under any of the club’s coaches - he’s on his Jack Jones at the training ground.
Flick’s Frustration
The German gaffer is reportedly proper gutted by Dro’s decision. Flick had been backing the youngster this season and considered him one of La Masia’s most promising talents with significant development potential.
When confronted with the Galician’s determination to leave, Flick immediately excluded him from training sessions. Since Friday, Dro hasn’t joined any squad sessions whatsoever - he’s no longer considered part of the group. Sources suggest the manager feels deeply disappointed and let down by the player’s stance.
Contract Complications
Despite this awkward situation, Dro remains under contract with Barcelona until June 2027, which means the club can’t prevent him from using their training facilities. However, they’ve made their position crystal clear by forcing him to train in isolation.
Where Next?
The attacking midfielder reportedly has several offers from major European clubs, particularly from teams in Germany, England and France. However, PSG appears to be in pole position, with Luis Enrique’s side allegedly offering a contract until 2030.
These negotiations remain ongoing, which explains why Dro continues to train at Barcelona’s facilities, albeit alone. The club isn’t making his departure easy - beyond the training isolation, they’ve indicated they won’t be offering any financial sweeteners to facilitate his exit.
