Betis snap up Munir's younger brother 'Sule' on free transfer
Real Betis secure promising 19-year-old Suleiman El Haddadi from Leganés, with the forward set to join their B team this summer when his contract expires.
Real Betis have moved swiftly in the transfer market to secure the signature of Suleiman ‘Sule’ El Haddadi, the 19-year-old younger brother of former Barcelona and Sevilla forward Munir El Haddadi.
Family connections but different player profile
While the El Haddadi name might be familiar to Spanish football fans, ‘Sule’ brings a different skill set to his older brother. Standing at 1.85m, he’s more of a physical presence in the box compared to Munir, who currently plies his trade with Iranian side Esteghlal.
The teenager is described as a powerful area striker with good shooting ability and an eye for goal - qualities that caught Betis’ attention as they continue to strengthen their youth ranks.
From Leganés to Betis
Currently on Leganés’ books, ‘Sule’ has already made his first-team debut in the Copa del Rey this season, featuring in matches against Azuaga and Albacete. His development path has been relatively short so far:
- Started at Las Rozas
- Joined Leganés youth setup in 2022
- Currently playing for their B team in Tercera Federación (fourth tier)
Betis have secured his services for next season when his contract expires in June, with the youngster set to join Dani Fragoso’s Betis Deportivo side. However, there’s a twist in the tale - the Seville club are exploring the possibility of bringing him in during the current January window.
Potential early arrival
With the winter transfer market still open, Betis have reportedly submitted a proposal to Leganés that could see ‘Sule’ arrive ahead of schedule. This would bolster their B team’s fight to maintain their status in Primera RFEF (third tier).
Born in El Escorial, the forward is eligible to represent either Spain or Morocco at international level, adding another layer of intrigue to his development.
This move represents another example of Betis’ growing focus on youth development, with the club increasingly looking to their academy to produce first-team talent. For young Sule, it’s a proper opportunity to step out of his brother’s shadow and make a name for himself in Andalusia.
