Eibar's Travel Sickness: Armeros Draw a Blank in Granada

Eibar's road woes continue as they fail to register a shot on target at Los Cármenes, extending their away goal drought to over two months in the Segunda División.

Another point on the road for Eibar, but their attacking struggles away from home are becoming a serious concern as they failed to register a single shot on target against Granada.

Defensive solidity, offensive struggles

Picking up a point against a direct rival in the lower reaches of the table isn’t the worst result for Beñat San José’s men. The defensive resilience shown at Los Cármenes provides some comfort, but it’s the attacking department where Eibar are coming up well short.

The Armeros haven’t found the back of the net in their last four away fixtures - a proper mare for their travelling supporters. You’ve got to go all the way back to November 16th at El Molinón for their last away goal. That’s over two months of drawing blanks on their travels!

From creating chances to creating nothing

What’s particularly concerning is the evolution of their away form:

  • Earlier in the season: Creating chances but failing to convert
  • Recent months: Barely creating anything at all

It’s no longer just a case of lacking a clinical finisher - the team is struggling to generate meaningful attacks altogether. The stats tell a proper horror story:

Two shots on target in 270 minutes

Across their last three away matches, Eibar have managed just two shots on target - both coming in their visit to Burgos. They left Córdoba without a single effort on goal and repeated that disappointing feat at Granada yesterday.

Even in Burgos, where they did manage those two attempts, the quality of chances was poor (0.46 xG), suggesting they weren’t exactly peppering the goal with clear-cut opportunities.

Ipurua dependency

This continued road trouble means Eibar are increasingly dependent on their home form at Ipurua to keep them afloat in the Segunda División. That’s a risky strategy for a team looking to climb away from the lower reaches of the table.

Until San José can find a way to spark some life into his attack away from home, Eibar’s season hangs in the balance. The defensive foundation is there - now they just need to remember to pack their shooting boots when they hit the road.
