Huesca cuts short Hugo Pérez loan spell as he heads to Nástic via Espanyol
The midfielder's disappointing stint at Alcoraz ends after just four appearances, with parent club Espanyol immediately shipping him off to Nástic de Tarragona.
Hugo Pérez’s Huesca nightmare has reached its conclusion as the Aragonese club terminates his loan deal, sending him back to Espanyol who’ve wasted no time in finding him a new temporary home at Nástic de Tarragona.
Failed Stint at Alcoraz
The Catalan midfielder arrived at Huesca last summer with high hopes of becoming a key figure in their squad, but things went pear-shaped almost immediately. Neither former gaffer Sergi Guilló nor current boss Jon Pérez Bolo seemed to fancy him much:
- Just four total appearances for Huesca
- Only three of those as a starter
- Zero minutes under current manager Bolo
- Last league appearance came on November 1st against Albacete
Pérez did get a run-out in the Copa del Rey against Racing Ferrol, earning a start in that fixture, but then found himself warming the bench again when Osasuna came calling in the next round.
Not the Only Departure
The writing was on the wall for Pérez, much like it is for Gustavo Albarracín, who’s also set to leave the club in the coming days. Albarracín will return to Alavés, who are already searching for another destination for him during the second half of the campaign.
Reinforcements Coming
Huesca aren’t just trimming the squad, mind you. They’re expected to officially announce the signing of Jair Amador this week as a direct replacement for Pérez. The centre-back recently terminated his contract with Eibar and his return to Huesca is all but confirmed, just waiting for the official announcement.
This defensive reinforcement couldn’t come at a more crucial time for Huesca, who currently find themselves in the dreaded relegation zone. Bit of a dog’s dinner, that.
What’s Next for Pérez?
The midfielder will be hoping for more playing time at Nástic de Tarragona until the end of the season. After such a disappointing spell at Huesca, he’ll be desperate to get his career back on track with regular minutes in Catalonia.
