Ajax and Osasuna finalizing Raúl Moro deal: €6m for 50% ownership
Spanish winger Raúl Moro set for LaLiga return as Osasuna close in on deal with Ajax, who are cutting their losses after the 23-year-old failed to settle in the Eredivisie.
Raúl Moro’s dream return to Spanish football is on the verge of completion as Osasuna and Ajax exchange final paperwork on a complex deal worth €6 million for just half the player’s rights.
Deal structure
The transfer that’s bringing the 23-year-old winger back to LaLiga is in its final stages, with both clubs currently swapping documents. If everything proceeds according to plan, we should see signatures on contracts within hours.
The financial structure is particularly interesting:
- €6 million base fee for 50% ownership rights
- Additional variable payments based on performance objectives
- Ajax maintaining half the player’s rights for potential future profit
This arrangement helps Ajax recoup some of their investment after they splashed over €10 million to sign Moro from Real Valladolid. The Dutch giants are clearly cutting their losses on a player who never quite settled in the Eredivisie.
Return to Spain
For Moro, this represents the chance to resurrect his career back on home soil after his Dutch disappointment. The young Spaniard has been in demand, with both Villarreal and Mallorca also expressing interest in securing his services.
Osasuna have won the race, though, adding an exciting attacking option to their squad. The Pamplona outfit will be hoping Moro can rediscover the form that prompted Ajax to spend big on him in the first place.
It’s a proper Bobby Moore of a deal for Osasuna if they can get the lad firing again – potentially nabbing a player worth double what they’re paying if he comes good.
