Atleti's midfield hunt: Ederson and Joao Gomes on Alemany's radar
Matteo Moretto reveals Atletico Madrid's midfield targets, while Osasuna closes in on Raúl Moro with a significant investment through 2031.
Simeone’s side stepping up efforts to bolster their engine room as transfer specialist Matteo Moretto spills the beans on Atletico’s midfield hunt.
Atleti’s midfield mission
The transfer window’s heating up in the Spanish capital with Atletico Madrid going full pelt to find that missing piece in midfield. According to transfer guru Matteo Moretto on Radio Marca’s ‘Despierta San Francisco’, the Rojiblancos’ sporting director Mateu Alemany is proper busy identifying the right profile to strengthen Cholo’s squad.
In the coming days, Alemany plans to make contact regarding:
- Ederson from Atalanta - the Brazilian midfielder who’s been turning heads in Serie A
- Joao Gomes from Wolverhampton - another samba star making waves in the Premier League
These two names have emerged as serious targets as Atleti look to add some steel to their midfield options.
Raúl Moro to Osasuna - done and dusted
In other bread and butter, Moretto confirmed that winger Raúl Moro has already landed in Pamplona to complete his move to Osasuna. The deal between Osasuna and Ajax is all wrapped up, with the Spanish side splashing between €6-8 million for 50% of his rights.
Despite having plenty of admirers (or “girlfriends” as they say in Spain), Osasuna put their money where their mouth is and secured his signature on a long-term contract running until 2031. Bit of a result for them, that.
Other transfer tidbits
The transfer specialist also dropped some knowledge on other potential moves:
- Levante are “extremely interested” in securing Swedish winger Sonko from Gent on loan
- Real Oviedo continue hunting for strikers while Fores’ departure remains in limbo
- Oviedo have managed to secure Thiago Fernandes, a midfielder from Villarreal, on loan
And what about former Atleti man Yannick Carrasco? The Belgian winger is desperate for a move away from Saudi Arabia’s Al Shabab to keep his World Cup dreams alive. Roma have already submitted a formal offer for his services, so watch this space.
