Barcelona outcast Dro still in limbo as PSG move drags on

Six days after news broke of Dro's imminent departure to PSG, the player remains in Barcelona training alone after falling out with Hansi Flick.

The young Barcelona talent continues to train in solitary confinement as his proposed move to Paris Saint-Germain stalls, with both clubs now negotiating a potential transfer fee structure instead of activating his release clause.

From golden boy to persona non grata

It’s been nearly a week since the bombshell dropped that Dro was set to leg it from Barcelona to PSG, yet the lad’s still kicking about in Catalonia like a spare part. Last Friday, reports suggested he’d be triggering his €6 million release clause and joining Luis Enrique’s project in Paris, but the situation’s gone proper Pete Tong since then.

The real drama kicked off when Dro informed Hansi Flick of his decision to leave. The German gaffer was absolutely fuming - we’re talking proper north and south here. Flick had backed the youngster heavily since pre-season, only for him to announce his departure out of the blue.

Flick’s response was as swift as it was severe - immediate banishment from first-team training.

Solo sessions continue

The current arrangement is rather awkward for all parties:

  • Dro continues to use Barcelona’s facilities, but must train completely alone
  • He’s been spotted again on Thursday working individually while the first team returned from their Prague trip
  • This isolation will continue until his transfer to France is finalised

Why the hold-up?

The delay stems from behind-the-scenes negotiations between the two European giants. Rather than Dro simply paying his release clause (which would trigger significant tax implications), Barcelona and PSG are working on a structured transfer:

  • Barcelona hopes to receive slightly more than the €6 million release clause
  • PSG would pay a higher fee directly to Barcelona but save substantially on taxes
  • Both clubs see financial advantages in a negotiated deal rather than clause activation

Meanwhile, Dro remains in football purgatory - training alone at a club that no longer wants him, waiting for the green light to begin his Parisian adventure.
