Manu Rico swaps Huesca struggles for Osasuna B loan move
The 23-year-old midfielder heads to Primera RFEF on his third consecutive loan spell after failing to secure regular minutes under Jon Pérez Bolo at Huesca.

Third time’s a charm?
SD Huesca have shipped out another fringe player as they continue reshuffling their squad during the January window, with 23-year-old midfielder Manu Rico joining Osasuna’s B team on loan until the end of the season.
The Aragonese youngster has struggled for game time under gaffer Jon Pérez Bolo this term, making just eight league appearances - all from the bench. In recent fixtures, he’s been left twiddling his thumbs as an unused sub, making this loan move a proper no-brainer for all parties.
This marks Rico’s third consecutive loan spell, having previously had stints at Ceuta and Tarazona. Talk about being passed around like a parcel at Christmas!
Relegation rescue mission
Interestingly, Rico’s jumping from one relegation scrap to another. While Huesca are battling to avoid the drop in Spain’s Segunda División, he’ll now be trying to help Osasuna B escape the relegation zone in Primera RFEF (Spain’s third tier).
For the Pamplona outfit, they’re getting a player desperate to prove himself and clock some serious minutes on the pitch. For Rico, it’s a chance to finally get his career moving after being stuck in neutral.
Huesca’s winter moves
Rico becomes the second player to leave Huesca this January after Hugo Pérez’s departure. The club’s transfer activity suggests more movement is on the horizon:
- Outgoing: Manu Rico and Hugo Pérez confirmed, with Gustavo Albarracín expected to follow
- Incoming: Efe Aghama and Jordi Escobar already signed, with Jair Amador set to be announced imminently
- Jorge Pulido’s future remains uncertain
With Huesca in serious danger of relegation, sporting director Martín González appears to be working his dog and bone off to strengthen the squad. Expect more additions before the window slams shut as the Aragonese club fights to avoid what would be a devastating drop down to the third tier.
