Osasuna splash the cash on Raúl Moro with eye-watering seven-year deal
The Navarrese club have secured the talented winger from Ajax until 2031, with a complex deal involving staggered payments and ownership percentages.
Osasuna have made a significant statement of intent by securing the services of Raúl Moro on an extraordinary seven-year contract that will keep him at El Sadar until 2031.
The Deal Breakdown
The Navarrese outfit haven’t been shy with their wallet, shelling out an initial €5 million for 50% of the Catalan footballer’s economic rights. This ain’t your standard transfer, though – the agreement with Ajax includes a series of performance-related clauses that could see the deal’s value balloon considerably.
For every performance milestone reached during his contract, Osasuna will pay an additional €500,000 to Ajax. These bonus payments come with a twist – each time they cough up another half-million euros, Osasuna’s ownership stake in Moro increases by 5%.
If all clauses are triggered over the duration of his contract, the rojillos could end up paying a maximum of €3 million in add-ons, which would bump their ownership percentage to a hefty 80% of the player’s rights.
Protection Clause
Osasuna haven’t mucked about when it comes to protecting their investment. They’ve slapped a €50 million release clause on Moro’s contract – a clear sign they see serious potential in the young talent and aren’t keen on seeing him pinched by bigger clubs without proper compensation.
Immediate Introduction
The club aren’t wasting any time in showing off their new acquisition. Fans won’t have to wait to catch a glimpse of their new signing, as Moro is set to be officially presented at El Sadar this afternoon at 18:30 local time.
This move represents a significant piece of business for Osasuna, who clearly have their mince pies on long-term planning with such an extended contract. The structure of the deal also suggests they’re confident Moro will develop into a player worth considerably more than their initial investment.
