Raúl Moro's Osasuna arrival: 'We can do great things this year'

After a difficult spell at Ajax, winger Raúl Moro has found a new home at Osasuna and is already setting ambitious targets for his time in Pamplona.

The Barcelona-born winger has finally completed his move to Osasuna after sporting director Braulio Vázquez’s long pursuit, bringing his brief and challenging Dutch adventure to an end.

Braulio’s long-awaited signing

It’s been a proper dog and bone situation for Braulio Vázquez, who’s been after Moro’s signature for multiple transfer windows. The Osasuna sporting director couldn’t hide his delight at finally landing his man, though he did warn about the player’s reserved nature: “He’s quite introverted, he prefers to do his talking on the pitch.”

Despite this warning, Moro spoke confidently to the media, offering an optimistic outlook that will surely have Osasuna supporters buzzing: “This year we can do great things. To achieve this, we’ll try to improve our away form.”

Ajax disappointment

Moro’s time in the Netherlands proved challenging, with the winger struggling to adapt to life abroad:

“I went to a country I didn’t know, with a different culture, and found it difficult to adjust,” he admitted. “Spanish football is what I like most.”

The move to Ajax initially seemed like a no-brainer for the talented wide man. “Ajax is a massive club with Champions League possibilities,” he explained, but things didn’t quite work out as planned. “I arrived in Amsterdam with high confidence, but over these months I haven’t maintained it. Now I’ve come to the right place to get it back.”

Ready for action

While there are some bureaucratic hurdles to clear before he can make his debut, Moro is already eyeing the upcoming clash with Rayo Vallecano: “If the manager thinks I’m ready, I’m available for the weekend.”

The winger brings pace and attacking flair to Osasuna’s forward line, describing himself as “a fast player with good one-on-one ability who’s committed to the team.”

He’s also looking forward to linking up with the club’s strikers: “We have Budimir who finishes everything you put in front of him, but we also have Raúl García. They’re both goalscorers, proper number nines, and I think I can work well with them.”

With his confidence returning and a point to prove after his Ajax setback, Moro could be a proper diamond for Osasuna in the second half of the season.
