Valladolid bolster attack with Dutch forward Noah Ohio
Real Valladolid secure loan deal for Utrecht striker Noah Ohio with an option to buy dependent on promotion, as they look to solve their goalscoring woes in Segunda División.
Struggling Valladolid have moved to strengthen their attacking options with the loan signing of Dutch forward Noah Ohio from Utrecht.
Transfer details
The 23-year-old striker arrives at the José Zorrilla on a loan deal that includes an option to buy, which MARCA reports is contingent on Valladolid securing promotion to La Liga. That’s looking like a tall order at present, with the Pucela currently closer to the relegation places than the promotion playoff spots.
Ohio becomes the second attacking reinforcement of the January window following Norwegian forward Vegard Erlien, who joined earlier in the month alongside central defender Ramón Martínez.
Attacking reshuffle
The club has been busy reshaping their forward line, with:
- Noah Ohio arriving on loan from Utrecht
- Vegard Erlien already signed this window
- Jorge Delgado departing on loan to Chaves
- Arnu heading to Real Madrid Castilla on a temporary deal
This leaves Valladolid with four main striking options for the remainder of the season: Latasa, Marcos André, Erlien and Ohio. The quartet will be tasked with addressing what’s been the team’s Achilles heel this season - putting the ball in the onion bag.
Who is Noah Ohio?
Despite his tender age, Ohio brings an impressive pedigree to Valladolid:
- Recently turned 23 (likely to be registered with the B team to free up first-team squad space)
- Scored nine goals in eight matches for Utrecht’s reserve side this season
- Represented the Netherlands at the U21 Euros last summer, reaching the semi-finals
- Developed in the youth academies of Manchester United, Manchester City and RB Leipzig
- Previous spells at Vitesse, Austria Vienna, Standard Liege and Hull City
New gaffer Tevenet will be hoping the well-traveled youngster can hit the ground running and provide the firepower to lift Valladolid up the table. If he can find his shooting boots, he might just be the diamond geezer they’ve been looking for.
