Valladolid's Orta: 'We're going all out to keep Chuki'
Real Valladolid's sporting director Víctor Orta promises 'irresistible offer' for out-of-contract Chuki while also discussing winter transfer activity.
Valladolid are preparing to break the bank in their desperate attempt to keep star man Chuki at the club beyond this summer.
With the player’s contract set to expire in June, sporting director Víctor Orta has made it crystal clear that retaining Chuki remains their top priority, despite previous rejection of their offers.
‘Irresistible offer’ promised
Orta didn’t mince his words when discussing the situation: “We’re going to throw everything at him.” The director admitted they’ll be stretching themselves financially to table what he described as an “irresistible offer” for the player.
What’s particularly telling is Orta’s assurance that Chuki won’t be frozen out if he decides against extending his stay - a refreshingly professional approach that’s not always guaranteed in these situations.
Transfer window activity
Valladolid haven’t been twiddling their thumbs this January either. Orta confirmed they’ve been busy strengthening various positions:
- A new wide player (Sanseviero) has already arrived at the club
- Clerc is currently undergoing physical assessments before any potential move
- Despite Trilli’s departure, Orta believes they’re well-stocked at right-back with Iván Alejo, Ramón Martínez and Koke (though the latter isn’t training with the first team)
- Ohio will initially be registered with the B team, keeping options open for late window opportunities
Ohio arrival confirmed
Noah Ohio was officially unveiled as Valladolid’s new striker during the same press conference. Orta revealed they’ve been tracking the forward since spotting him at the Kevin De Bruyne Tournament eight years ago.
The deal includes a mandatory purchase option if Valladolid secure promotion and meet certain performance targets, with an additional optional purchase clause.
Ohio himself seemed proper chuffed with the move, revealing he’d even consulted with his mate Jude Bellingham about the opportunity. The striker expressed his desire to extend his initial six-month stay and highlighted his team-first mentality (though he’s certainly not shy about wanting to find the onion bag regularly).
