Castellón splash the cash for Álvaro García, Primera RFEF's top marksman

The Segunda División promotion hopefuls have triggered the €150,000 release clause for the Mérida striker who's been banging them in at the third tier level.

Castellón mean business in the transfer market as they’ve just snapped up Primera RFEF’s leading goalscorer to bolster their promotion push.

Pichichi Signing

The Valencian club have gone and pulled off a proper statement signing by nabbing Álvaro García from Mérida after triggering his €150,000 release clause. The 26-year-old Cantabrian forward has been absolutely on fire this season, currently sitting joint-top of the Primera RFEF scoring charts with 12 goals in 19 matches.

García has put pen to paper on a lengthy deal that’ll keep him at Castellón until 2028 - showing the club’s faith in their new marksman. He becomes their second proper winter signing after Raúl Sánchez (with Fadel joining the reserve squad).

Proven Goalscorer

This lad’s been one of the standout performers in Spain’s third tier this campaign:

  • 12 goals in Primera RFEF (tied with Atlético Madrid B’s Arnau Ortiz)
  • Currently the Pichichi (top scorer) of Group 1
  • Added another goal in Copa del Rey action
  • Scored 17 goals for SD Logroñés in Segunda RFEF last season

Talk about a natural progression! After doing the business in the fourth tier last season, he’s stepped up to the Primera RFEF without breaking a sweat. Now he’s got his chance in the professional ranks with a team pushing for promotion to La Liga.

Strengthening the Attack

García will be joining fellow strikers Ousmane Camara and Adam Jakobsen in Pablo Hernández’s squad, giving the manager some serious options up top. With this kind of firepower, Castellón are making their promotion ambitions crystal clear.

The Orelluts, as they’re known locally, aren’t messing about in the transfer market. When you’re aiming for the big time, sometimes you need to splash the bread and honey on proven goalscorers - and that’s exactly what they’ve done here.
