Jordi Mboula exits Cultural Leonesa for Chinese Super League in winter window shake-up
Barcelona academy product Jordi Mboula becomes the fifth player to leave Cultural Leonesa this January, completing a transfer to Henan FC in China.

Chinese Super League beckons
Cultural Leonesa have confirmed the departure of Jordi Mboula to Henan FC of the Chinese Super League, making him the fifth player to scarper from the Spanish side during the January transfer window.
The Catalan winger joins Daniel Paraschiv, Paco Cortés, Agustín “Pibe” Pastoriza and Juan Larios in the exodus from José Ángel Ziganda’s squad, leaving the gaffer with some proper reshuffling to do before the window slams shut.
Barca boy with nomadic career
Mboula’s career has been something of a football odyssey since his formative years at Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy. The 24-year-old has had more clubs than I’ve had hot dinners, with stints at:
- SD Huesca
- RCD Mallorca
- Racing Santander
His passport’s taken a right battering too, with previous adventures in Belgium, France, Italy and Portugal. It was from Portuguese outfit Gil Vicente that he made his way to Cultural Leonesa in the dying moments of last summer’s transfer window.
Brief León legacy
The winger’s time at Cultural has been rather forgettable, in all honesty. Hampered by injuries, Mboula managed just 12 league appearances during his brief stint with the club, plus a solitary Copa del Rey outing against CD Tropezón.
At least he left something to remember him by in that cup tie, bagging his only goal for the club in a 3-1 victory. Not exactly the sort of impact that’ll have the locals crying into their cervezas now he’s off to the Far East.
The move to Henan FC represents yet another chapter in Mboula’s well-stamped career passport. For Cultural Leonesa, it’s another name crossed off the wage bill as they continue their January reshuffle.
