Lisci seeks aggression as Osasuna gear up for Vallecas challenge
Osasuna manager Alessio Lisci wants his side to show fighting spirit against Rayo Vallecano, while new signing Raúl Moro could make an immediate impact.
Osasuna boss Alessio Lisci is calling for his lads to roll up their sleeves and show some proper bottle when they visit the notoriously tricky Vallecas stadium this weekend.
Aggressive approach
Lisci’s made it crystal clear what he wants from his Osasuna side as they prepare to face Rayo Vallecano in what promises to be a proper battle between two sides level on points in the table.
“We want an Osasuna that tries to be aggressive,” the Italian gaffer explained ahead of the clash, acknowledging the difficulty of playing at Vallecas against a side known for their high-pressing style.
The manager’s been proper chuffed with the training sessions this week, suggesting his squad are up for the challenge that awaits them in Madrid.
New boy Moro ready to make impact
Osasuna’s latest acquisition, Raúl Moro, could be thrown straight into the deep end this weekend. The registration paperwork is expected to be sorted in time for the match, with Lisci clearly excited about what the winger can bring to the team:
- Vertical attacking threat
- Ability to beat defenders
- Quality minutes off the bench
Lisci’s keeping expectations in check though, admitting that the new boy won’t immediately grasp all tactical instructions after just a brief chat and video session. Rome wasn’t built in a day, as they say.
Away day blues
Osasuna’s form on their travels has been a bit pants if we’re honest, but Lisci’s taking heart from their last away performance at Girona. He reckons if they can replicate that level consistently, the points will start coming on the road.
“The challenge is first to play a good match, like we did in our last away trip to Girona. From there, the second objective is to get points,” Lisci explained.
Facing a familiar face
There’ll be a touch of added spice to the encounter as Osasuna come up against former player Iñigo Pérez, now in the Rayo dugout. Lisci was full of praise for his opposite number, describing him as “a very good coach” who he enjoys a cordial relationship with.
With Osasuna sitting fifth in the form table since their match against Levante, Lisci’s keen to keep the good vibes flowing. A result at Vallecas would be just the ticket to maintain that momentum.
