Raúl's son Héctor González joins Cádiz's reserve team in winter shake-up

The son of Real Madrid legend Raúl González Blanco has signed for Cádiz's B team, Mirandilla, as they look to strengthen their squad after losing several key players.

Young defender Héctor González, son of Real Madrid icon Raúl, has joined Cádiz CF Mirandilla as the reserve side looks to rebuild their squad after a winter exodus.

Mid-season reinforcement

Cádiz’s B team has moved swiftly to secure the services of 18-year-old Héctor González Redondo for their Tercera Federación campaign. The youngster arrives at a critical time for Mirandilla, who’ve seen their squad decimated in recent weeks with several standout players departing for Atlético Sanluqueño in Primera Federación.

The signing represents a strategic move to shore up Mirandilla’s defensive options for the second half of the season. The team, competing in Group X of Spain’s fourth tier, will be hoping González can hit the ground running as they look to stabilize after losing so many key figures.

Royal bloodline

Born in Madrid in 2005, González isn’t just any prospect – he’s the son of Spanish football royalty. His father Raúl González Blanco needs no introduction to football fans, having achieved legendary status at Real Madrid with an impressive trophy cabinet including:

  • Six La Liga titles
  • Three Champions League trophies
  • Four Spanish Super Cups
  • One European Super Cup
  • Two Intercontinental Cups

Héctor is one of five children of the Madrid icon, who is currently cutting his managerial teeth with Real Madrid Castilla.

Developing his own path

Unlike some footballing offspring who ride their parents’ coattails, young González has been grafting his way through the Spanish lower leagues. His development journey has taken him through the youth systems at Las Rozas and Leganés before joining Polvorín FC (Lugo’s reserve team), where he made 18 appearances in Tercera RFEF.

More recently, the defender turned out for Recreativo Granada (Granada’s B team), gaining valuable experience in semi-professional football before this move to Cádiz.

He’ll now be looking to impress under the guidance of Francisco Cordero Rubio as Mirandilla aim to stabilize after their January clear-out. The reserve side has already welcomed nine loanees to fill the gaps, with several making their debuts in a recent victory over Gimnàstic de Tarragona.

While his old man was known for putting the ball in the onion bag, Héctor will be focused on keeping it out at the other end as he continues to forge his own identity in the beautiful game.
