Valladolid snap up Uruguayan winger Sanseviero as fourth January signing

Real Valladolid continue their winter transfer business by securing Uruguayan winger Lucas Sanseviero on a free transfer from Danubio until the end of the season.

Real Valladolid aren’t messing about this January window, adding their fourth new face with the capture of Uruguayan winger Lucas Sanseviero on a free transfer after his contract with Danubio expired.

Busy winter window for Valladolid

The Blanquivioletas have been proper busy in the transfer market, with Sanseviero following Norwegian striker Vegard Erlien, Spanish centre-back Ramón Martínez, and Dutch forward Noah Ohio through the door at the José Zorrilla.

Sanseviero, 25, has penned a deal that runs until the end of the current campaign, giving manager Tevenet a much-needed option on the right wing. Currently, only Peter Federico is available in that position playing on his weaker foot, as Iván Alejo has been deployed at right-back since the start of the season.

Career trajectory

The new signing’s football journey began in the youth ranks at Peñarol Juniors de San Ramón and Nacional de Montevideo, where he featured in the 2020 Copa Libertadores U20 tournament. His senior career has seen him:

  • Loaned to Central Español in Uruguay’s Second Division in 2021
  • Joining Montevideo (also Second Division) in 2022, where he notched 7 goals and 5 assists in 30 appearances
  • Moving to top-flight Danubio in 2023, where he’s spent the last two seasons, racking up 6 goals and an impressive 17 assists across 68 matches

Not available for Albacete clash

While Sanseviero has already arrived in Valladolid and will begin training with the squad from Friday, fans will have to wait to see him in action. The club won’t officially present him until next week, meaning he’ll miss Saturday’s home fixture against Albacete.

This signing continues to show Valladolid’s intent to strengthen their squad depth as they push for promotion back to the top flight. The Adam and Eve’s clear - they’re not taking any chances with their squad building this winter.
