Real Madrid's fresh blueprint for rising starlet Gabri Valero

Los Blancos implement new development plan for talented Juvenil A winger Gabri Valero, including call-up to Madrid C as part of strategic pathway to senior football

Real Madrid have crafted a specialized development pathway for Juvenil A winger Gabri Valero, whose breakthrough performances this season have caught the attention of Valdebebas’ top brass.

The Menorca marvel

The talented 16-year-old, born in Menorca in August 2007, joined La Fábrica in summer 2021 from Las Rozas. While always showing promise, this season has been his proper coming-out party, with the youngster recently putting on a clinic against Cádiz in the Copa del Rey youth tournament, providing two crucial assists to send Los Blancos through to the round of 16.

Valero’s rapid development prompted Madrid to secure his services with a contract renewal less than a year ago, demonstrating the club’s belief in his potential.

Stepping out of the comfort zone

The latest chapter in Valero’s development sees him called up to Real Madrid C for their upcoming fixture against Intercity in Alicante. This promotion isn’t a coincidence or due to squad shortages – it’s part of a calculated strategy to:

  • Challenge him against more physically developed opponents
  • Expose him to more pressurized match environments
  • Accelerate his adaptation to senior football

This approach follows Madrid’s established protocol for exceptional youth talents, with other promising youngsters like Javi Navarro, Beto, Bailón, Liberto, Lezcano, Galassi, and Lacosta receiving similar treatment.

Balancing act

While getting a taste of life with Madrid C, Valero will continue his duties with Álvaro López’s Juvenil A side, where he remains a key figure in their ambitious campaign across multiple competitions:

  • League title challenge
  • UEFA Youth League
  • Copa del Rey youth tournament
  • Copa de Campeones

With Valero set to graduate from youth football after this season (being a 2007-born player), the club is preparing him for life in one of Madrid’s top two reserve teams next term. The brass at Valdebebas clearly fancy the boy’s chances – he’s got the potential to be proper top drawer if they play their cards right.
