Valencia secure summer deal for Dutch defender Justin de Haas
Los Che have reached a pre-contract agreement with Famalicão's centre-back Justin de Haas, who will join on a free transfer this summer when his contract expires.
Valencia have moved swiftly in the transfer market, securing a summer deal for Dutch defender Justin de Haas from Portuguese side Famalicão. The centre-back will join Los Che when his current contract expires in June.
Deal already in place
Valencia have wasted no time getting their ducks in a row for next season’s squad planning. The club has reached a complete agreement with de Haas for a summer move, effectively securing their next signing months in advance. The Dutchman is expected to sign all necessary paperwork in the coming days.
Interestingly, Valencia had initially been negotiating with de Haas for a January transfer during the current window. However, the Spanish club pivoted to prioritize the signing of Unai Núñez, which has already been made official.
Still a chance for January move?
Despite securing the summer deal, the door hasn’t completely closed on an earlier arrival. There remains a possibility that Valencia could still bring de Haas to Spain this month if they’re willing to cough up some compensation to Famalicão.
Either way, it’s now a certainty that de Haas will be wearing the famous white shirt of Valencia - it’s just a matter of whether it’ll be sooner or later. As we say in London, it’s all sorted - Valencia didn’t need to use their loaf to see this lad has proper talent.
Valencia’s defensive rebuild
The signing signals Valencia’s intent to strengthen their defensive options for the future. By securing both Núñez for immediate impact and de Haas for the longer term, Los Che are addressing a key area of their squad that has needed reinforcement.
