Fer López undergoes medical ahead of Celta homecoming
Former Celta youth product Fer López is set for a return to Vigo after a disappointing spell with Premier League strugglers Wolves, with an announcement expected imminently.
The prodigal son is returning home as Fer López prepares to rejoin Celta Vigo on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers after a brief and underwhelming spell in England.
Medical completed
López arrived in Vigo on Sunday night and spent Monday morning undergoing his medical examination while the two clubs finalize the paperwork for his loan move. The official announcement is expected Monday afternoon, with the player likely to join Claudio Giráldez’s training session on Tuesday.
While he won’t be available for Thursday’s Europa League clash in Belgrade (having not been registered for the competition), he could feature in the next round should Celta progress. His first opportunity to don the sky blue shirt again will likely come this Sunday against Getafe.
Premier League struggles
The young Spaniard’s time in the West Midlands has been nothing short of a mare’s nest. Since his summer move to England, López has managed just 364 minutes of playing time across all competitions for a Wolves side that’s:
- Currently sitting rock bottom of the Premier League
- Accumulated a measly 8 points all season
- Struggling to keep their head above water
Back where he belongs
The return to his boyhood club comes just six months after leaving. During his previous stint with Celta’s first team last season, López made quite the impression, featuring in 20 matches and bagging 4 goals.
For Celta fans, seeing their homegrown talent back at Balaídos will be a proper Bobby Dazzler, especially with the team looking to strengthen for the business end of the season.
