Marcelo's son Enzo Alves pens first professional contract with Real Madrid
The 16-year-old striker, son of Madrid legend Marcelo, continues his rapid rise through La Fábrica with his first pro deal after already making his Castilla debut.
Real Madrid have secured the future of one of their most promising academy talents and a famous surname to boot.
Rising through La Fábrica
Enzo Alves, son of club legend Marcelo, has put pen to paper on his first professional contract with Los Blancos. The talented 16-year-old striker has been making serious waves in Madrid’s youth setup, and the club have moved quickly to tie down the youngster at this critical age for academy prospects.
“Happy to sign my first professional contract,” the teenager posted on his social media, celebrating the milestone alongside his family who attended the signing ceremony.
The timing is no coincidence - clubs typically look to secure their brightest talents with professional terms between the ages of 16 and 18, and Madrid have wasted no time in getting Enzo’s signature on the dotted line as soon as he reached the first of these key age milestones.
Rapid progression
This has been a proper bobby dazzler of a season for young Enzo, who’s making progress at a rate of knots through Madrid’s academy system:
- Despite technically being registered with Juvenil B (U17s), he’s been training and playing with Juvenil A (U19s) since the season began
- Made his Youth League debut against Olympiacos in December
- Just one week later, earned his first call-up to Castilla (Madrid’s reserve team)
- Debuted for Castilla against Manchester City in the Premier League International Cup under Álvaro Arbeloa’s guidance
Arbeloa, who also gave Enzo his Juvenil A debut last season, clearly has tremendous faith in the young forward’s abilities. The apple hasn’t fallen far from the tree when it comes to making an impact at the Bernabéu - though unlike his Brazilian father who made his name at left-back, Enzo is making his mark as a striker.
With Madrid’s track record of developing young talent and Enzo’s rapid rise through the ranks, the son of the club’s legendary full-back looks to be on a promising trajectory in white.
