Sevilla slap £30m price tag on Adams as striker heads for exit door

The Nigerian forward has failed to impress during his time at the Andalusian club, scoring just six goals in 21 appearances since his arrival from Montpellier.

Sevilla are ready to cash in on striker Akor Adams just one year after his arrival, with the club setting an ambitious €30 million asking price despite the Nigerian’s underwhelming stint in Andalusia.

Adams on the market

The 24-year-old arrived from Montpellier last year in a deal worth approximately €5.5 million when Victor Orta was still sporting director. Now, with both a new manager and recruitment team in place, Sevilla are looking to make a significant profit on their investment.

Adams’ time at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán has been far from stellar:

  • Just 6 goals in 21 appearances across all competitions
  • Multiple injury layoffs hampering his integration
  • Failed to establish himself as a key player despite his potential

Despite these struggles, Sevilla have set their stall out with that eye-watering valuation, though they’ve yet to find any takers at that price point.

Replacement already lined up

The Andalusians aren’t hanging about waiting for Adams to come good. They’re already in advanced talks to bring in Neal Maupay from Marseille on a loan deal with an option to purchase. The former Brighton striker has barely featured for the French side this season and looks set for a La Liga adventure.

Squad reshuffle in progress

Sevilla’s January clear-out doesn’t stop with Adams. The club is also finalizing:

  • Alfon’s loan move to Villarreal (with purchase option)
  • Potential termination of Marcao’s contract following his left foot scaphoid fracture surgery

These moves are designed to create financial fair play wiggle room before the winter transfer window slams shut next Monday. With Sevilla struggling in the league, they’re desperate to bring in reinforcements to avoid what would be a proper ‘mare of a relegation scrap.
