Andorra's Uzkudun pens extension and ships off to Avilés on loan

FC Andorra have secured Aitor Uzkudun's future with a contract extension to 2028, while sending the Basque forward on loan to Real Avilés in Primera RFEF.

Andorra secure long-term commitment from promising forward while facilitating his development with Primera RFEF loan move.

Contract extension and loan deal

FC Andorra have completed a shrewd bit of business by extending Aitor Uzkudun’s contract until June 2028 while simultaneously arranging a loan move to Real Avilés in Primera RFEF. The Basque attacker will spend the remainder of the 2023/24 campaign with Avilés, giving him valuable playing time to aid his development.

This represents clever squad management from the Andorran outfit, securing the long-term services of a promising talent while ensuring he continues to progress with regular minutes elsewhere. The San Sebastián native has found consistent game time hard to come by at Andorra this season.

Uzkudun’s Andorra stint so far

Since joining Andorra last summer from Arenas de Getxo, Uzkudun has made 16 appearances across all competitions during the first half of the current season. His contribution in front of goal has been limited, with just a single strike to his name – coming in the Copa del Rey first round against Valle de Egüés.

The forward will be hoping his temporary switch to Asturias can provide the platform to find his scoring boots again. For Andorra, it’s a case of playing the long game with a talent they clearly rate highly, as evidenced by the substantial contract extension.

What’s next for the player?

The six-month loan spell represents a crucial period in Uzkudun’s development. Primera RFEF will offer a decent level of competition without the intense pressure of Andorra’s promotion ambitions.

With his Andorra future secured until 2028, the club clearly sees something special in the young forward. If he can find form at Avilés and return to the Principality with renewed confidence, this could prove a proper Bobby Dazzler of a deal for all parties involved.
