Goti swaps San Sebastián for sunny Andalusia in Córdoba loan deal
Real Sociedad midfielder Mikel Goti heads to LaLiga Hypermotion side Córdoba FC on loan until the end of the season after falling out of favour under Matarazzo.
Real Sociedad have officially shipped out Mikel Goti to Córdoba FC for the remainder of the campaign, giving the midfielder a chance to resurrect his season down in Andalusia.
Out of favour at La Real
The Basque outfit confirmed today that Goti, who clearly wasn’t in Pellegrino Matarazzo’s plans, will spend the rest of the 2025-26 season with LaLiga Hypermotion side Córdoba.
It’s been a proper nightmare for the lad this term, barely getting a sniff in Matarazzo’s first-team setup. The German-American gaffer has clearly had other ideas about his squad composition, leaving Goti watching from the sidelines more often than not.
Fresh start in Andalusia
The move to Córdoba represents a golden opportunity for Goti to get his career back on track. The Andalusian outfit are pushing for promotion to the top flight, and his experience with La Real could prove invaluable in their campaign.
For Real Sociedad, it’s a chance to give playing time to a squad member who wasn’t featuring, while potentially increasing his value should they look to move him on permanently in the summer.
What this means
This loan deal makes perfect sense for all parties:
- Goti gets regular football again after a frustrating spell
- Córdoba secure an experienced midfielder from a top-flight club
- Real Sociedad avoid having an unhappy player in the dressing room
With half a season left to play, there’s plenty of time for the midfielder to show his quality down south and perhaps give Matarazzo something to think about for next season.
