Loren hopes for calm end to transfer window as Málaga stand pat

Málaga's sporting director Loren Juarros addresses the club's quiet January window, confirming no planned moves despite potential squad space opening up.

Málaga CF appear set to be one of the rare Segunda División sides making no January signings, with sporting director Loren Juarros keen to avoid any last-minute transfer drama.

Quiet January at La Rosaleda

With just five days remaining in the winter transfer window, Málaga find themselves in a rather unusual position. While most Segunda División clubs have been busy wheeling and dealing, the Andalusian outfit and Eibar stand as the odd ones out, having made zero moves in either direction.

The primary stumbling block has been their maxed-out squad registration slots, leaving no room for new faces. However, there might be a glimmer of hope for those expecting last-minute action, as the club is considering moving Moussa to the reserve team, which would free up the number 15 shirt and a precious registration spot.

”Nothing strange”

Despite this potential opening, Juarros remains adamant that no reinforcements are on the horizon:

“At this moment, we don’t contemplate any movement,” he stated bluntly, making it crystal clear where the club stands. “We simply hope nothing strange happens or that another club triggers a release clause.”

This stance might leave some supporters feeling like they’ve been sold a pup, especially as many Segunda rivals strengthen for the promotion push.

No exits expected either

The good news for Málaga fans is that the club doesn’t anticipate any departures either. Juarros confirmed no offers have been received for any players, and none have expressed a desire to leave.

Left-back situation creates internal debate

Interestingly, there appears to be some behind-the-scenes disagreement regarding the left-back position. While the sporting director has reportedly harboured thoughts about signing another option there, manager Sergio Pellicer (Funes) has pushed back on the idea.

The gaffer’s reasoning? Bringing in another left-back would leave them with four players competing for one position - hardly the most efficient use of their limited resources.

The club’s brass will be hoping for a drama-free deadline day on Monday, when they’ll be focused on their away match against Mirandés at Anduva Stadium, scheduled almost exactly when the transfer window slams shut.
